When tooth decay strikes, choose Battersea Smiles for expertly performed fillings.

Our cosmetic fillings are painstakingly matched to the colour of your teeth to restore your smile to its natural beauty.

For chipped, cracked, or decayed teeth, fillings are an extremely common treatment to restore health to your mouth. They’re safe, quick, and invisible. We practice conservative dentistry and are extremely careful to preserve as much natural, healthy tooth enamel as possible whilst removing unhealthy decayed tissue. We only offer cosmetic colour-matched composite fillings.

Amalgam fillings are characterised by their metallic dark grey colour, making them quite unappealing in the mouth and visible. In modern dentistry we can now use hard-wearing tooth-coloured or ‘white fillings’ so no one need ever know you have a filling.

We often receive requests to remove amalgam fillings due to damage or simple aesthetics. In such cases, they can be replaced with composite resin.

Old leaking silver mercury amalgam fillings changed to tooth coloured composite fillings.

If you have caries / decay your tooth can look like this. Without treatment the decay can eat into the nerve or pulp and cause pain that may need a root canal. To reduce this risk we recommend regular checks to catch this early. A filling is remove the decay and prevent the decay from getting worse.

Dental Fillings Treatment FAQs

1. What does the treatment process look like?

Here at Battersea Smiles, our experts are equipped with modern tools and techniques.

Our fillings are conducted under a local anaesthetic if needed to prevent any pain or discomfort, and the whole process is typically completed in a single visit.

With all the different shades of Composite material, You can be sure that we’ll carefully match the colour to your teeth so it looks natural, like a tooth that has never had a cavity!

2. Are amalgam fillings safe?

Amalgam fillings are made up of a mixture of different metals: Mostly mercury, with some tin, copper, and silver.

Amalgam fillings are known to release minute amounts of mercury vapour, but only in insignificant quantities. Plenty of research has been done into the safety of dental amalgam and has found that there is no significant risk of harm caused by that level of mercury exposure.

New research is always being published. Thus far, there’s no need to be alarmed. That said, amalgam fillings are being phased out for environmental reasons. The Minamata Convention is an international treaty that aims to phase out mercury products to reduce their presence in the environment.
